Leading Coast-based innovation hub, Swahilipot, will host the 2nd Pwani Innovation Week scheduled for December 3-6th, 2019; followed by the Blue Hackathon on 8 and 9 December. The event, being the largest innovation event of the year taking place along the coastal strip, is a consolidated effort by the Hub and its partners to help create a widespread culture of innovation in the coastal region. The Hub, through the event, also intends to enhance the development of innovative ideas and capabilities.

Theme: The Digital Economy

Themed on the Digital Economy on the realization that technology has disrupted almost every single aspect of our lives, the event targets emerging technologies that are changing the way we engage, work and do business. In addition, the event will also see the unique collaboration of Pwani Innovation Week with the Blue Hackathon, leading up to the Jumuiya Agriculture and the Blue Economy Investment Conference (JABEIC). This critical partnership will ensure discussions on policy implications through to investment opportunities are addressed at the event. Innovation catalyzes the aspirations of individuals, private institutions and governments to achieve development by generating creative ideas and introducing new products, services and operations that improve the overall quality of life.

About PIW 2019

Pwani Innovation Week is a consolidated effort by Swahilipot Hub and it’s partners to help create a widespread culture of innovation in the coastal counties of Kenya. Scheduled for December 3 – 6, 2019 in Mombasa, the event is aimed at stimulating the Innovation ecosystem in the Pwani region. At our main venue and the week, we will feature Hack-a-thons, training, and workshops; keynote speakers from industry and thought leaders, and boot camps, and our famed Pwani Gat Talent too. Coming on board to partner with Swahilipot for this event include diverse partners, namely Cellulant, Seacom, Huawei, Cisco, Liquid Telecom; and government and non-government agencies such as the ICT authority, Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology, National Museum of Kenya, Kenya Red Cross Society, International Center for Humanitarian Affairs, Jumuiya, Konza Technology, Mombasa County, Thunderbird Business School, Innovus, Sera Africa and the British High Commission in Nairobi, through various British agencies.
